Vulcram Servicing
Maintenance should be carried out periodically, or immediately after submersion or exposure to harsh environments such as mud or sand, to ensure all moving parts continue to operate smoothly.
Safety
Full personal protective equipment should be worn during servicing.
Full Service Procedure

Remove the locking screw cap, grub screw and locking screw.

Remove the internal shaft.

Tap the external shaft and hammer to loosen any debris caught inside. Use an air compressor if you are unsure whether the pipe is completely clear of debris.

Clean the internal shaft and apply a light, even coating of lubricant.

Vulcram recommends LANOX MX4 by Inox, or a lubricant with similar properties. Avoid silicone or petrochemical-based lubricants.

Remove the circlip and pin from the forked housing. Do not spread the circlip excessively during assembly or disassembly. Replace the circlip if it is worn or deformed.

Remove the wedge, lock slider and spring.

Clean all parts thoroughly with a cloth. Denatured alcohol or an alternative gun-safe cleaning solvent may be used where required.

Apply lubricant to the pin and the sides of the wedge.

Reassemble Vulcram and carry out a complete function test before returning it to service.
